NEW PATIENT INFORMATION

We are honored you have chosen Woodlands Medical Specialists. Please review the policies below prior to starting the Weight Loss Management program.


  • Please allow one hour for your initial visit. Follow-up visits are scheduled monthly and are 15 minutes in duration.

  • If your initial appointment is missed, canceled, or rescheduled within a 24-hour window of scheduled time the visit will not be rescheduled.


  • If you are more than 6 minutes late to any scheduled Weight Loss Management appointment, your provider will be notified of your arrival and will determine if they are able to see you. If they are not able to work you back into their schedule you will be charged a fee of $25.00 for the late arrival/missed visit.

  • All requests to cancel or reschedule an appointment must be made at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Per policy, you will be charged a fee of $25.00 that must be paid prior to the next appointment.

  • Multiple same-day reschedules, cancellations, or failure to attend scheduled visits will result in being discharged from the program. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure future visits are scheduled at the time of visit checkout. Provider’s schedules fill up quickly and appointments need to be made in advance. We recommend scheduling two months ahead of time.

  • Any controlled medication prescription must have an in-office appointment to be refilled. Controlled medications will NOT be refilled over the phone, at the request of the pharmacy, or during a Telehealth visit.

  • Medication samples are very limited. If you are approved to receive a sample medication it must be picked up from the office within seven days. After seven days it will be made available to another patient.

  • If you and your provider decide medication intervention is appropriate your insurance provider may require a prior authorization to be completed by our office. We are typically notified by you or your pharmacy if this is needed. This process may take up to two weeks depending on your insurance company. Please be patient.

  • Program participation will require the use of a home scale provided by Woodlands Medical Specialists. This Remote Patient Monitoring device will transmit your daily weight to our office for your provider to review. This service will be billed to your insurance.

  • Program participation also requires attending one 90-minute group class led by our Registered Dietician, Deanna Flournoy. This is also billed to your insurance or an affordable cash pay rate is available if your insurance does not cover this program.
